Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Ica at 7 am to start this archaeological route through the Palpa Valley, a place with more than 5000 years of history. Our first stop will be at the Huarango Milenario, a tree over 1000 years old. Next, we'll go to the district of Rio Grande to admire the Perfil del Inca, a rock at the foot of the Andes whose shape will surprise you. We'll continue the tour approaching the town of Palpa, and before arriving we'll see the so-called Solar Clock, a set of lines and geoglyphs of mysterious meaning. Afterwards, we'll enter Palpa and visit its main square and the Museum of Palpa, which exhibits a great variety of archaeological pieces found in the pre-Inca settlements of the valley. After visiting Palpa, we'll drive east to discover the petroglyphs of Chichictara and the geoglyphs of the Paracas Royal Family. These are enigmatic geometric drawings dating back thousands of years and are comparable to the famous Nazca lines. The last stop of our archaeological tour of Palpa will be at the La Máquina spring, which was created by a geological fault and divides the hills of the valley. Here we'll leave you free time for a swim and to have lunch on your own in one of the restaurants. Finally, we'll return to Ica, where we'll arrive between 5 pm and 6 pm.
