Description
Feel like a true explorer on this off-the-beaten-path hiking tour in the heart of the El Yunque Rainforest. Avoid the big crowds on this early access tour, and blaze into the lesser-known trails of the lush tropical rainforest. The initial hike is a 30 minute journey up a rock and dirt path with some river wading. On Saturdays we use a longer trail that can take approximately 40 minutes to hike. This trail is surrounded by bamboo trees, rainforest flowers, and many other beautiful plants. Our guide will happily help you identify these plans along the way, while sharing many other interesting details about Puerro Rico's geography, culture and history in general. First, visit a collecting pool that forms at the base of a small waterfall. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in its crystal clear waters and admire the colors of its deep pools. Enjoy the cascades of the waterfall and take the opportunity to snap pictures. As we continue exploring the rainforest, the adventure ends in another pool area, it's most acclaimed gem. After a few minutes of hiking and climbing boulders, arrive at a river where you can swim, swing from a rope into the river, and enjoy natural water slides. The reward of joining this early access tour will be paid when you get to have these waterslides almost for yourselves. After spending some time here, we will proceed to hike back thru the same way we came in. Final stop before returning to San Juan will be for lunch at a local restaurant (food cost not included).
