Café Manolín

Cafe Manolin has undoubtedly one of the best reputations among tourists and locals alike for its hearty Puerto Rican dishes - if you want to give Mofongo a try during your visit to San Juan then make sure you go to Cafe Manolin.

With its American-diner layout, this is unpretentious home cooking served over the counter. Their best dish has to be the chicken or shrimp Mofongo served with rice, beans, tostones and a chimichuri-style 'house' sauce.

Although some cruise ships are increasingly referring their passengers here as it gives a perfect slice of San Juan for day trippers, it is still primarily a local spot as the food is authentic, the service is fast and for hole in the wall prices it can't be beaten.
