For well over a decade Café Puerto Rico has been delighting tourist and locals in Old San Juan with fine Puerto Rican food and excellent service. This bi-level restaurant located on O'Donnell Street next to Plaza Colon features menu items that are prepared at the time the order is taken so the food is always fresh and delicious.
The Churrasco (Skirt Steak) is excellent hear and rivals any that you will find at a steakhouse. Other popular selections include the Sopa de Pollo (Chicken Soup) and Mofongos Rellenos (Stuffed Mofongo). Mofongo is a popular dish in Puerto Rico and is made with mashed green fried plantain mixed with broth, garlic and pork cracklings. At Café Puerto Rico you can have yours made with Yuca or sweet plantains and filled with vegetables, Chicken, Pork, Steak, Shrimp, Seafood etc. No visit to Puerto Rico would be complete without tasting this local favorite.
'Ceviche a la Café Puerto Rico' has recently been added to the menu and if you love ceviche the restaurants version is excellent and one of the best you will find anywhere in Old San Juan.
There is also a daily lunch menu featuring typical Puerto Rican specialties with some chefs surprises. Items are priced from $6 to $10.
Café Puerto Rico has a nice selections of wines available to enjoy with your meal.
Try one of the special House Drinks made with varieties of Don Q rum or Skyy vodka, all are made with natural fruit juices.
The full service bar also offers a selection of freshly made natural fruit juices and drinks.
