Want to stand up on a surfboard on your very first day in Puerto Rico? This private surf lesson in San Juan gives you a licensed WOW Surf School instructor all to yourself for a full hour, on the soft golden sand and gentle, beginner-friendly waves in front of the Ritz-Carlton. You start on the beach with stretching, paddling technique, the pop-up, and beach etiquette, then head straight into the water, where your coach stays beside you for every wave and corrects your timing, balance, and stance in real time. Because it is one instructor to one student, there is no waiting your turn and no wave wasted, which is the fastest way to go from never surfed to standing up and riding. WOW Surf School is led by founder William 'Chino' Sue-A-Quan, a professional surfer with an international competition record, and our licensed instructors and lifeguards bring more than 30 years of combined experience to the water with you. A soft-top surfboard sized to your height, weight, and skill level, a leash, and a full safety briefing are all included, plus 30 extra minutes of board rental after your lesson so you can practice while it is still fresh. All ages and fitness levels are welcome, the pace is set to you, and the beach is easy to reach from Isla Verde, Condado, Old San Juan, and the cruise port. Just bring a swimsuit and we handle the rest.

Important Information

• Please arrive 30 minutes before your lesson time to check in, sign the waiver, and get fitted for your board. Meet the WOW Surf School crew on Pine Grove Beach, directly behind the Ritz-Carlton in Isla Verde - look for the blue, black, and yellow gear. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel and reef-safe sunscreen. Lessons run in most conditions, but may be rescheduled for safety if the ocean or weather does not cooperate; if the new time does not work for you, you can choose a full refund instead. No previous surfing experience is needed and all ages and fitness levels are welcome.
