Description

Experience the natural glow of La Parguera’s world-famous Bioluminescent Bay aboard a spacious and stable 26-foot motorized catamaran. Limited to only 6 participants, this night tour offers a comfortable, intimate, and personalized way to witness one of Puerto Rico’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Depart from Punta Papayo with a USCG-licensed captain and cruise through the calm waters of the La Parguera Natural Reserve. Along the way, enjoy the mangrove-lined surroundings, the night sky, and information about the reserve’s ecosystem, marine life, and the science behind bioluminescence. Once inside the Bioluminescent Bay, observe how millions of microscopic organisms create flashes of natural light when the water is disturbed. From the boat, watch the glow appear beside the vessel and across the surrounding water. Every visit is different. The visibility and intensity of the bioluminescence vary naturally depending on the moon phase and other environmental factors. Although its intensity cannot be guaranteed, each tour provides an opportunity to enjoy the nighttime beauty and delicate ecosystem of La Parguera. Caribbean Chiliboats is an authorized DRNA concessionaire and is recognized for Sustainable Tourism by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. The experience is operated by a USCG-licensed captain. The vessel carries the required safety equipment and life jackets for adults and children ages 5 and older. Before departure, participants receive a safety briefing at Punta Papayo. Boarding takes place directly from the shoreline and requires walking several steps through shallow water and independently using the vessel’s boarding ladder. Depending on the tide and the participant’s height, the water may reach approximately knee level. Water shoes or sandals that can get wet are required. Important information: - Minimum age: 1 year old. - Children ages 1 to 4 may participate only if their parent or legal guardian brings a properly fitted, USCG-approved child or infant life jacket appropriate for the child’s weight. - All children under 12 must wear a life jacket while the vessel is underway. - Maximum capacity: 6 participants, including children. - Maximum participant weight: 300 lbs (136 kg). - Participants must be able to board and disembark using the boat ladder without physical assistance. - This experience is not wheelchair accessible. - Swimming or entering the water inside the Bioluminescent Bay is prohibited under current DRNA regulations, including Administrative Order 2023-02, to protect this fragile ecosystem. - Alcoholic beverages, smoking, and participation while under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted. - Arrive 30 minutes before departure to complete check-in and receive the safety briefing. Discover the magic of La Parguera’s Bioluminescent Bay away from large tour groups aboard a vessel limited to only 6 participants. ✨
