Description
Step behind the bar inside Island Proof Distillery — a working spirits producer in the heart of Old San Juan — for a 75-minute cocktail lab built around rum, gin, and vodka made in the same room where you're mixing them.
Classes are capped at 8 guests, so you're not watching from the back of a crowded bar. You'll stand at your own station with your own tools, working directly with a local mixologist who walks you through the techniques bartenders actually use: balancing sweet and sour, shaking versus stirring, and building layers of flavor around Puerto Rican spirits.
You'll personally prepare two cocktails from start to finish, then enjoy a third mixed for you by your instructor — three drinks in total, all made with Island Proof's small-batch rum, gin, or vodka. Between pours, your mixologist shares the story of how the distillery came to life on Calle Tetuán and why each spirit tastes the way it does.
The class runs in both English and Spanish, so groups of mixed language travelers can join together comfortably. You'll leave with the recipes, the techniques, and a much better idea of what to order at any bar in San Juan.
